After a monumental loss, Caedmon has shut himself off from those he loves, never wanting to experience the pain of losing a loved one again. His young grandson is also tormented by the loss and becoming self-destructive as a result. In an attempt to give them a chance to heal, Caedmon takes his grandson into the 12th century for an adventure away from the pain.
