《三國演義》，原名為《三國志通俗演義》，是中國一本長篇歷史小說，是中國古代長篇章回小說的開山之作，作者一般被認為是元末明初的羅貫中。

演義以史為據，以儒家思想為本，強調「忠義」；着重於描寫戰爭，講述漢末黃巾之亂至魏、蜀漢及吳三國鼎立，到西晉統一百餘年間的歷史，刻畫了為數眾多的英雄人物。該書敘事「據正史，采小說，證文辭，通好尚。」虛實結合，曲盡其妙。[來源請求]李漁有言曰：「演義一書之奇，足以使學士讀之而快，委巷不學之人讀之而亦快；英雄豪傑讀之而快，凡夫俗子讀之而亦快。」
